Deputy Commissioner Haripur Muhammad Fawad called on a briefing on Solid Waste Management Project of Swat District to assess the feasibility of its replication at Haripur District.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning), Assistant Commissioner Haripur (Headquarters) and representative of TMA Haripur also attended the meeting.
The Sub National Governance (SNG) Programme funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) UK, briefed the chair regarding its initiative of “End-to-End Service Delivery Pilot Project’ of solid waste management in Swat. This project is piloted in Tehsil Bahrain and Tehsil Babuzai in Swat. Under this pilot project the planning process and governance structure of solid waste management are first assessed, and after identification of weak links, solutions for improvement are worked out. These solutions has exhibited visible improved results.
The pilot in TMA Bahrain was started with 100 households and is now expanded to 4,000 households. The SNG team is assisting the administration of Haripur in planning to replicate the same successful model in TMA Haripur.
The Deputy Commissioner thanked the SNG Programme, for choosing Haripur district for orientation about this pilot project. He also assured all possible support from his office.
