Deputy Commissioner Capt. (R) Sarmad Saleem Akram chaired an important meeting on Thursday to review emergency preparations in view of ongoing rains and the risk of cloudbursts, said a handout.
Officials from the Peshawar Development Authority, Traffic Police, CCPO Office, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP), PESCO, Trans Peshawar, Cantonment Board, Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority, SNGPL, Health, Rescue 1122, Agriculture, Local Government, Education, C\&W, Irrigation, Information, Religious Affairs, and other departments briefed the meeting about their preparedness.
WSSP reported readiness of machinery and teams for drainage, while PESCO presented measures to secure the power system and deploy emergency repair teams. Rescue 1122 assured availability of boats, ambulances, and rescue squads. Traffic police identified waterlogging points and shared a diversion plan, while the Health Department confirmed hospital alerts and availability of medicines and ambulances.
DC Peshawar stressed that protecting human lives and providing timely facilities remain the top priority of the district administration. He directed all institutions to keep control rooms active, ensure public awareness, and maintain close coordination.
He further assured that the district administration is fully mobilized to deal with any emergency and urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during rains and follow government advisories.
