Deputy Commissioner Tank Jamshed Khan conducted a surprise visit to the Rescue 1122 office and various parts of the city, expressing displeasure over poor arrangements and sanitation conditions. He directed the concerned authorities to take immediate corrective measures.
The Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Assistant Commissioners Jamshed Alam and Malik Sajid Ali Khan, conducted a surprise inspection of the Rescue 1122 office. During the inspection, dewatering pumps, a disaster response vehicle, firefighting motorcycles and other rescue equipment were found damaged and non-functional. Poor cleanliness was also observed in ambulances, while some essential medical equipment, including first-aid kits and blood pressure apparatus, was found in poor condition.
The inspection further revealed unsatisfactory maintenance arrangements for wireless systems installed in fire brigade vehicles, the floodlight vehicle, generators and other valuable government equipment. Orders were issued to initiate inquiries and seek explanations from absent officials, including the emergency equipment storekeeper, and other officials responsible for the poor arrangements.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Jamshed Khan visited Wednesday Mandi Road, the area near Mir Khatam Doctor and Committee Bagh, among other locations, to inspect the sanitation situation. Expressing serious displeasure over heaps of garbage found at various places, he directed the relevant departments to immediately improve cleanliness and remove the accumulated waste.
Deputy Commissioner Jamshed Khan made it clear that providing citizens with a clean environment and effective rescue services during emergencies is the responsibility of the administration, and negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
Members of the public appreciated the Deputy Commissioner’s surprise visits and his efforts to inspect problems on the spot, saying that such practical monitoring can improve the performance of government institutions and help resolve public issues in a timely manner.
