The office-bearers of the Mardan Press Club took oath of their offices for the year 2023. Mayor Mardan Himayatullah Mayar administered oath to the cabinet members at a ceremony held here at Mardan press club.
Bakhat Muhammad Yousafzai was sworn in as president, Hidat-ur-Reham Hoti as vice president, Shahab Akbar general secretary, Faqir Hussain Hoti as joint secretary, Khurshid Wahab as finance secretary. Former safety commission chairman Aziz Khan and deputy director information Shamsul Haq also participated in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Mayor Mardan, Himayatullah Mayar said that media was an effective tool which could be utilized to help bring lasting peace and development in the region. He said that democracy and free media are inseparable, journalists can identify public problems through their pen and pave the way for its solution. Himayatullah Mayar appreciated the role of media in the construction and development of Mardan.
Mayor said that the members of Mardan press club always effectively represented the people of Mardan and did not fail to convey the problems of the people here to the concerned authorities.
He said that his interest in solving the problems of journalists has not been hidden, he took great interest in solving the problems of journalists in the past and journalists will find me with him in the future.
He announced a grant of 1 million rupees for the club and one lakh rupees for social media kits. He said that he will make full efforts to solve the residential problems of journalists.
He congratulated the elected officials for taking oath. Senior journalists Musrat Khan Asi, Latfullah Lutf, Riaz Mayar, Ashraf Khan, M Bashir Adil and others also spoke on this occasion.
