Dengue claims one more life in KP, 212 new cases reported

Death toll from dengue risen to17 in the province this year
PESHAWAR
One person died of dengue fever and 212 more cases surfaced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.
The deceased was a resident of Peshawar, the worst hit district in the province by the mosquito borne diseases so far this year.
With the latest casualty, the death toll in KP from dengue fever has risen to17, said by the provincial health department daily surveillance report.
The report added that 212 new dengue fever cases were reported in the province during the last 24 hours which increased the number of dengue patients to 20235, as 26 more dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals of the province and the number of admitted patients reached 1955 so far this year.
It added that currently there are 66 people admitted at different hospitals of the province while the number of active cases in the province stands at 1287.
The official statistics revealed that during the last 24 hours the highest number of 124 fresh cases of dengue fever was reported in the provincial capital which is the worst hit district of KP and with this the number had risen to 8,141.
Similarly, 11 cases of dengue reported from district Bannu and Dir Lower, 14 from Haripur, 10 from Kohat, seven from Swai, 17 from Mardan and 124 from Peshawar.
The residents of the provincial capital say that the fresh casualty emerged during the last 24 hours laid bare the performance of the district administration to control dengue fever.
They complained that despite tall claims of the district administration, they failed miserably to contain the spread of dengue fever.
