Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a notice to Punjab home department and federal government on the detention of Jamaat ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed. Court also directed home department to submit its response by 7th of March. On Wednesday, division bench of LHC headed by Justice Sardar Shamim Ahmad held a hearing. Lawyer of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and his aides said that JuD leaders have been detained on external pressure, without any charges.
Detention of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and his four aides including Professor Zafar Iqbal,Mufti Abdul Rehman Abid, Abdullah Abaid and Qazi Kashif Niaz has been challenged in LHC.
A number of JuD and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) pamphlets and booklets have been made part of the petition which highlighted the organization’s humanitarian work in different parts of the country.
