Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said he wants to make it clear on the world that situation is deteriorating in Afghanistan and this will afford opportunity to the terrorists to re-surface.

He said this while presiding over a meeting held here in Foreign Ministry to undertake final review of the extra ordinary meeting of OIC COUNCIL OF Foreign Ministers.l.

The meeting was attended by information minister Fawad Chaudhry, foreign secretary Sohail Mehmood, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar and senior officers of foreign ministry.
He said that Pakistan is going to host extra ordinary meeting of OIC Council of foreign ministers for Afghanistan. Afghanistan will be its one point agenda.

He held “I make it clear to the world that if seriousness is not demonstrated on Afghanistan issue then emerging humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan will become worsened. Afghanistan economic collapse is clearly visible. Non only Pakistan but the entire region will be affected by this crisis.

“I during the meetings with different foreign ministers in New York diverted their attention towards deteriorating situation of Afghanistan. Today UN, World Bank, IMF are also repeating what we have said. They are saying if the restrictions imposed on Afghanistan are not reviewed and immediate aid is not provided to them then a mammoth crisis could surface.

There is no banking system in Afghanistan. International institutions are saying if attention is not paid immediately then 97 percent Afghanistan will be below poverty line by the middle of 2022. 95 percent Afghans have nothing to eat at present. We are discharging our obligations. But Pakistan alone cannot discharge this responsibility.
No rains have come in Afghanistan, he underlined. They have no money to pay salaries to government employees. If immediate decisions are not taken then a major crisis will come, he cautioned.

He stated no attention was paid on Pakistan stance. We have been saying that a political solution to Afghan issue be found. We want to make it clear on the world that situation is worsening in Afghanistan again. The world will have to save Afghanistan from humanitarian crisis.
