In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), welcoming the grant of bail to its incarcerated president Shabbir Ahmed Shah in a fabricated “funding” case by the Indian Supreme Court, has termed the much-awaited verdict a victory of truth and justice.
According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal, in a statement issued in Srinagar, reacting to the Indian court order delivered by a bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, said that despite many hurdles in the process, the verdict confirms that justice can still prevail.
“Although Shabbir Shah has not yet been released from jail, there is a ray of hope that the precedent set by the learned bench in this case will ultimately lead to his exoneration in the other baseless cases filed against him,” the spokesman said.
Referring to Shabbir Shah’s lifelong struggle, the spokesman emphasized that his efforts have been purely peaceful and political in nature.
He said the Indian Supreme Court’s verdict is a major step towards justice and expressed optimism that the courts would provide similar relief to other Kashmiri political prisoners who have been languishing in jails for years.
