Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Hazara Region Zeeshan Asghar has police after completing efficient investigation paved way for the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) to award death sentence to two men convicted for devising suicide attack on the bus of Chinese engineers in Kohistan. The engineers were deputed for the construction of Dasu hydropower project on July 14,2021.
Mohammad Hussain and Mohammad Ayaz of Matta tehsil in Swat district were convicted for planning the bus bombing, which killed 13 people, including nine Chinese workers, and injured over 23 passengers.
Addressing a news conference regarding the suicide attack on Chinese and Pakistani, he explained that police and other relevant law enforcement agencies worked tirelessly to access the real culprits behind the attack.
Zeeshan Asghar maintained that modern technology was used to reach the attackers and held all those who were directly involved in the heinous crime in the district.
DIG Hazara Zeeshan Asghar said that owing to sound and accurate investigation not only the real culprits were apprehended but paved way for the court to announce the verdicts.
According to the details, nine Chinese among 13 people were killed in a suicide attack on bus carrying engineers deputed for the construction of Dasu Dam in Kohistan.
The attack also claimed lives of two FC personnel and two local people. The attack was carried out on 14-07-2021.
The case of which was registered against the unknown accused in Police Station CTD Hazara Region and the investigation was launched.
A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was formed in the case and the investigation started in the light of the evidence available on the spot. The team finally arrested the accused and presented them before the court.
