The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) regularly holds a monthly Online Public Hearing (E-Khuli Katchery) to ensure the timely resolution of issues faced by the public and NHMP employees, while promoting direct communication with citizens.
As part of this initiative, Deputy Inspector General (Operations) NHMP, Asghar Ali Yousafzai, participated in a live Online Public Hearing broadcast through FM-95 Radio Station and the official NHMP Facebook page.
During the live session, the DIG (Operations) listened to complaints, concerns, and suggestions from members of the public and NHMP employees through live telephone calls. He issued necessary directions to the relevant officers for the prompt resolution of the issues raised.
Appreciating the valuable suggestions received from the public, he stated that public feedback plays a vital role in improving the performance of the organization and enhancing the quality of public service delivery.
Deputy Inspector General Asghar Ali Yousafzai said that the National Highways & Motorway Police, through its effective strategy, professional expertise, and the use of modern technology, continues to take practical measures to provide safe and comfortable travel facilities on national highways and motorways, prevent road traffic accidents, and ensure the rule of law.
He urged road users to strictly follow road safety principles, respect traffic laws, and adopt safe and responsible driving practices while travelling.
He emphasized that compliance with traffic laws is the responsibility of every citizen.
He further informed that NHMP’s Mobile Education Units are visiting madrassas, educational institutions, public and private offices, bus terminals, and truck stands to educate children and the general public about road safety.
He also urged parents to educate their children about traffic rules and safe travelling practices from an early age. The DIG advised motorists to use quality tyres, carefully check the manufacturing date before purchasing tyres, and have them inspected by qualified professionals to help prevent road accidents.
He further stated that the Motorway Police is continuing indiscriminate enforcement against overloading and lane violations. He clarified that freight vehicles will not be allowed to enter any motorway or national highway without first passing through the designated Weigh Station.
He also advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the monsoon season. However, if travelling is unavoidable, they should ensure that their vehicle is fully roadworthy, all necessary safety precautions have been taken, and, particularly when travelling to northern areas, the journey should be undertaken with an experienced driver.
Deputy Inspector General Asghar Ali Yousafzai said that the Pakistan Armed Forces and the Police are making the ultimate sacrifice to protect the lives and property of the people. He paid tribute to all the martyrs for their invaluable sacrifices in the service of the nation.
Concluding the session, he urged citizens to avoid over-speeding, strictly observe the prescribed speed limits, comply with traffic laws, and adopt responsible driving behaviour to protect their own lives as well as the lives of others.
