Farmers trained to use modern tech to Increase per acre yield

Speakers at a function held at the University of Malakand (UoM) urged the farmers’ community to adopt modern tools and techniques for enhancing per acre production in the area.
The Winning Hearts &Minds (WH&M), an organization of the Pakistan army in collaboration with the UoM arranged the function under its National Freelance Training Programme for local farmers at the varsity here on Monday.
The UoM Dean of faculty Prof Dr Atta ur Rehman and Brigadier Jawad inaugurated the Digital Hujra Program center at the UoM on the occasion. Besides faculty members, students and farmers, Aamir Hayat Bandhara, Fawad Riaz Bajwa, Rafiullah Kaki and Fazal Subhan were also present.
The aims and objectives of the event were to increase the soil productivity, educating farmers on modern and digitalized farming and connecting their agriculture with the internet system through digital equipments and scientific machinery.
Briefing the participants on the Digital Hujra program, Mr Fawad and Aamir Hayat said the center would connect young rural communities to the internet helping them realize their potential so that they could become productive contributors to society and national economy.
They said the program introduced innovative capacity building and agriculture services and technologies to the rural communities in Malakand division.
They said the center would install high speed internet connectivity, weather station, spray and survey drones and satellite based precision agriculture system with yield prediction.
The other speakers said the farmers could increase their soil productivity with the help of modern machinery and up to date knowledge.
They said the Digital Hujra center would enable the local farmers to know about their soil condition and weather changes.
They said the center and its experts would provide necessary information and services to local farmers belonging to the villages of Ramora, Ali Mast, Gul Muqam, Darbar and Sehsada in Adenzai tehsil.
The speakers said that such centers would also be set up at the University of Swat, Bunir, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sharingal Upper Dir and Abdul Wali Khan University Timergara campus in future so that farmers in those areas could also be facilitated for more soil productivity.
