SARGODHA: Director Information Sargodha Division Ahmed Naeem Malik met Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha (UOS) Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat on Sunday and presented him his new research and historical book titled “The Lost Chapter of Alexander’s History”. According to a spokesperson, during the meeting, the author provided a detailed briefing to the Vice Chancellor regarding the book’s contents and research significance. He shared that the book is the outcome of a decade-long research project that identifies the original and lost return route of Alexander the Great passing through the Sargodha district. According to the author, the book highlights key historical discoveries, including ancient early Aryan settlements along the route, over 70 ancient mounds, the historical importance of the Kirana mountain range, and references to the Khokhar, Bharat, and Subhi tribes in ancient texts like the Rigveda and the Mahabharata. Ahmed Naeem Malik highlighted that the publication holds immense academic value for faculty and students at the University of Sargodha, offering new avenues for interdisciplinary research across archaeology, history, GIS, geology, geography, and linguistics. He noted that these ancient human settlements in Sargodha could be contemporary with major historical sites such as Harappa and Taxila.
Welcoming the contribution, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat lauded the author’s extensive work and termed the book a valuable addition to local history. He stated that such authentic research would inspire a strong research culture among students and announced that the university would support further academic projects on the topic.
He assured that the book would be placed in the university library as an essential research reference. The author expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for appreciating his academic work. Mathematics Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashraf and Incharge Public Relations Department Muhammad Usman were also present on the occasion. — DNA
