Dissolution of NA, ECP suspends by-polls in NA-33 Hangu

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended by-elections in constituency NA-33 of District Hangu due to dissolution of the National Assembly, said a notification issued by ECP. The election in the constituency is scheduled to be on April 10, 2022.
According to a notification issued by the ECP “Pursuant to the dissolution of National Assembly by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 3rd April 2022, the proceedings relating to Bye-Election in NA-33 Hangu are hereby suspended till the outcome if the Suo moto Case pending before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of Pakistan”.
It may be recalled that the motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan was rejected by the Deputy Speaker in a meeting of the National Assembly convened for a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly on April 3,2022.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan had immediately approved the advice sent by the PM for dissolution of the National Assembly. Candidates namely Akhunzada Mufti Obaidullah, Nadeem Khayal and Syed Umar belong to three political parties namely Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami National Party (ANP) respectively were in the run for by-elections to the vacant National Assembly seat in NA-33 constituency in Hangu District.
