PESHAWAR: The district administration said on Wednesday an anti-encroachments drive had been launched in different parts of the provincial capital.
At a meeting Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mahsud resented reoccupation of the public property the administration had retrieved last year during the campaign against encroachments.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood, Assistant Commissioner Altaf Sheikh, all the additional assistant commissioners, SDO of Irrigation Department Saifullah Khan, and other officials attended the meeting. They gave proposals for success of the anti-encroachment campaign.
The district administration had conducted a massive campaign against encroachments two years ago. Hundreds of illegal shops, cabins, buildings, gas stations, markets were razed to the ground.
However, people again seized the public property in most parts of the city after powers were transferred to nazims and councillors following the Local Government elections.
