The DOSTI Peshawar Women Literature Festival’s second edition was launched with a grand ceremony held Peshawar, October 14, 2024 at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar. Organized by DOSTI Welfare Organization in collaboration with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar.
Chief guest MrRiaz Khan Mahsud arrived at the event which was attended by literary enthusiasts, scholars, and dignitaries from various sectors. Representative of Dosti foundation Syed hanif Rasool, Ms Tayyaba Aziz and DG culture and Tourism Mr Tashfeen Haider were among guest of honours.
The event commenced with a recitation followed by the national anthem. Prof. Dr. Safia Ahmed (T.I.), Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar, delivered the welcome address.
A key highlight of the event was the keynote speech titled “A Tribute to Empowered Women” by renowned literary figure Ms. Bushra Farrukh. The session emphasized the significance of women’s contributions to literature and their role in societal development.
A panel talk “Adab aur Agahi” moderated by Dr Antal Zia followed the keynote speech of penalists Naz Parveen, Shaheen Umar and Dr Humaira featuring discussions on the intersection of literary expression and gender. The author talk was moderated by Dr. Sumaira Gul, with contributions from acclaimed author Madam Sameena Qadir.
Female poets presented their poems DrShahida Sardar, Ms Shaheen Ameen and Ms Rani Bano on different societal aspects and entertained the audiences.
Dr Zarmina Baloch and Ms Sania siraj presented a session under the title “Connecting Regions: A Visual Journey Through Discourse” highlighting the role of visuals in shaping collective experiences and understanding in our region’s regional diversity.
The chief guest Mr Riaz Mahsud address was delivered, he appreciated the wonder efforts put forward by vice chancellor Dr Safia Ahmad and chief organizers Dr Hamida and Tashfeen zia along with organisers Dr Sumaira, Dr zarmina and Sania Siraj for organising the event.followed by a souvenir presentation as a token of appreciation to the distinguished guests and contributors. Dr. Hamdia Bibi, the chief organizer of the event, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the participants.
