Epilepsy Foundation Pakistan President and noted neurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has said that Neuromodulation represents one of the most exciting frontiers in epilepsy management.
Speaking at the three- day International Neurology Update and 7th biannual National Headache Disorders Conference here, she said from VNS and DBS to the more sophisticated RNS, these therapies are transforming outcomes for patients once considered untreatable.
She said while challenges remain, the trajectory is clear: smarter, safer, and more effective technologies are ushering in a new era where seizures can be predicted, prevented, and controlled.
She said for the millions living with drug-resistant epilepsy, Neuromodulation offers hope— and a glimpse into the future of brain-based therapies.
Dr Fowzia stressed the need for beginning a national program for training of young neurologists. She asked the government to give a subsidy on medication for treatment of epilepsy.
Other speakers included the organizer Dr Mian Ayazul Haq. The expert panel speakers were Dr Fowzia Siddiqui, Prof Nadir Zafar and Prof Khuram Haq Nawaz. Prof Dr Naila Naeem Shahbaz, Prof Sait Oztruk from Turkey, Prof Yasir Ayaz, Prof Athar Jawed and Dr Ahmed Asif also spoke.
