The Board of Governors on Tuesday named Dr Sharon Hanuk as the principal of the historic Edwards College Peshawar.
The decision was taken in the BOGs meeting chaired by the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to a handout issued by the Governor-House, the BOGs members scrutinized the documents of a total five candidates for the post.
However, three candidates Dr Sharon Hannock, Dr Farzand Masih and Obaid Simon appeared for an interview before the BOGs members.
Instead of postponing the matter further, the members approved Dr Sharon Hanuk for the post of principal of Edward College Peshawar.
On this occasion, Farman said that the process of the appointment had been delayed due to several reasons, adding that finally the decision was taken on the basis of merit.
He said that Diocese Lahore had decided to send a panel of five names but two meet the criteria set for the post.
Three candidates who appeared for the interview did not meet the set criteria were ousted from the selection process.
Shah Farman said that from the very beginning it was the position that the principal of Edwards College would be from the Christian community.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Higher Education Kamran Bangash, Special Secretary Higher Education, Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Mehsud, Bishop Humphrey Sarfraz Peter and other board members.
