Information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has said had the election taken place in two provinces on April 30 they would have become controversial for ever.

“what decision Election Commission (EC) has taken in consultation with all stake holders is in the interest of Pakistan”, she said in a statement issued here Thursday.

She held EC has to ensure under article 218 of the constutiton that elections are held in fair and transparent manner. It is requirement of article 224 of the constitution that care taker governments are in place in federation and provincial units at the time of election.

When National Assembly (NA) election is held then governemnts will be set up in two provinces, she added.

She claimed that EC has saved the country from major constitutional crisis due to its decision. The decisoin will bring political stability in the country. The population census process is underway in the country. It cannot happen so that elections are held in KP and Punjab before population census.

She underlined there were reservations that election is being imposed forcibly due to ego of one man. The constitution cannot run on the will of one man that he abrogates the constitution whenever he wills and he dissolves the assembly whenever he wills and he breaks the heads of policemen whenever he wants. This will not work.

She underlined it will not be allowed to run this way whenever he wills then elections are held and decisions come whatever he wills.
