PESHAWAR
The Election Commission (EC) has directed the district returning officers to arrange oath taking for the successful candidates of the local government elections, held some two and a half months ago in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a notification, the Election Commission has asked the returning officers to arrange oath taking ceremony for the elected representatives of the first phase of local government elections in KP.
The official sources said the oath taking of Village and Neighborhood chairmen, members, chairmen of tehsil and city and mayors would be held soon and its record would be provided to the District Election Commissioners. The district returning officers have also been directed to assign oath taking duty to the officers concerned and issue a schedule for the task.
Local Government elections were held on December 19th , however the elected representatives have not been administered the oath so far.
