PESHAWAR
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday barred Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal from attending a scheduled public meeting in Parachinar a tehsil of tribal district of Kurram.
ECP’s district Kurram monitoring officer in view of the upcoming phase of local government (LG) elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) issued the warning to PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari against participation in a public meeting to be held on Saturday (today).
It is pertinent to mention here that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along with other senior leaders of the party would arrive in Parachinar where he will address a large public meeting at the sports complex.
Bilawal Bhutto’s first ever visit to the tribal district of Kurram has been scheduled last week for which all arrangements have been made under the supervision of local MNA Sajid Hussain Turi and MPA from Kohat and provincial information secretary Amjad Afridi and other local leaders as well, said a party leader.
The ECP stated in its order that PPP scheduled public gathering/Jalsa would be a violation of the election code of conduct and legal proceedings to be initiated against the violators.
