Shah Mohammad Wazir de-notified as a member KP Assembly
PESHAWAR
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday disqualified Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for transport Shah Muhammad Wazir and his son Mamun Al-Rasheed for five years over attacking a polling station and snatching election material from polling staff during the first round of local government elections in Bannu.
The ECP has issued its judgment in a case relating to the disruption of the election process due to mob attacks on polling stations in Bakakhel Tehsil of Bannu district.
The provincial minister Shah Muhammad Wazir and his son have been disqualified for five years under Article-218 of the Election Act.
Transport Minister Shah Mohammad Wazir has also been de-notified as a member of the KP Assembly.
After the ruling of the ECP, the provincial minister will not be able to contest elections for the next five years.
It has also been decided to register a criminal case against Shah Muhammad’s son.
The ECP also directed to take departmental action against Assistant Presiding Officers Mohabbat Khan, Hameedullah and Qudratullah. The ECP also ordered the police to register cases and launched further investigation against them.
