Delay in Islamabad LG polls
ISLAMABAD
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi over the continued delay in holding local government elections in Islamabad.
According to the cause list issued by the commission, the case regarding the delay in Islamabad’s local government elections will be heard on March 10. The ECP has called the interior minister in his personal capacity after the Ministry of Interior reportedly failed to respond to several letters sent by the commission regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, Secretary Interior Khurram Agha has already been issued a notice for contempt of the commission, while Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa has also been directed to appear before the commission.
The case will be heard by a five-member bench of the Election Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.
