PESHAWAR
Caretaker Minister for Planning, Development and Public Health Engineering Syed Hamid Shah said on Friday that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is mandated to hold free and transparent elections in the province, adding that the task of the Caretaker Government is not to conduct elections but to supervise the departments and facilitate the ECP for the conduct of elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The caretaker government of KP will not disappoint the nation in discharging its duties and functions,” he added.
While talking to a delegation from Bannu, Syed Hamid Shah maintained that holding elections in the province was the responsibility of the ECP.
Dean Director IT Professor Dr Aurangzeb Khan, SDO C&W Ameerullah Khan, District Sports Officer Adil Shah, Malik Sukhir Rahman, Head of Mutahida Mamish Khel, Hafiz Khan Nawaz Mamand Khel, Haji Amir Feroze Khan and other leaders were also present.
The Caretaker Minister said that the interim setup is not the rulers or elected body in the province but to oversee the departments for a specific period of time.
All our actions will be based on merit and no one will be abused or treated unfairly. In time, I will serve the public in such a way that there will be an example.
He said that instructions have been issued to senior officials of my department to keep their focus on developmental projects and that all work should be done on merit and on priority basis.
There are still areas where humans and animals drink from the same pond, adding that we have taken an oath under the Constitution of Pakistan and we will abide by this oath in any case.
Syed Hamid Shah said that the caretaker cabinet was trying hard to fulfill and will take all basic steps to conduct clean and transparent elections in K P province.
