District Education Officer (Male) Mardan, Zahid Muhammad, has said that comprehensive, sustainable, and result-oriented measures are being implemented to improve the quality of education in the district, enhance the performance of public educational institutions, and provide students with quality learning opportunities in line with modern educational standards.
He stated that these initiatives have already begun to produce positive results.
He said that the Education Department’s top priority is to ensure access to quality education for every child, uphold transparency and merit, and provide an excellent teaching and learning environment in schools so that Mardan can emerge as a model district in the field of education.
Zahid Muhammad informed that the recruitment process for Primary School Teachers (PSTs) is progressing rapidly. So far, the appointments of 179 teachers have been completed, while the recruitment process for the remaining 246 vacant positions will be finalized soon.
He emphasized that all appointments are being made strictly on the basis of transparency, merit, and legal requirements to ensure that qualified, competent, and professional individuals are given the opportunity to serve in the education sector.
He further stated that the Mardan Education Department has also reserved quotas, in accordance with government policy, for minorities, persons with disabilities, and the transgender community.
The recruitment process under these special quotas will also be completed in the near future. He added that this initiative reflects the department’s commitment to equal opportunities, social inclusion, and justice, enabling every segment of society to contribute to national development.
The DEO (Male) Mardan said that merit-based, transparent, and professionally driven recruitment of teachers has significantly improved the teaching system. As a result, the overall performance of government schools, student attendance, teaching standards, and academic outcomes have shown noticeable improvement. He remarked that competent teachers are the foundation of a strong and high-quality education system, which is why the department continues to prioritize merit and professional excellence at every stage.
He further noted that special attention is being given to teachers’ professional development through training programs, modern teaching methodologies, digital learning initiatives, effective academic monitoring, improved school infrastructure, and the creation of a conducive learning environment for students.
In addition, efforts are being made to strengthen discipline in schools, continuously evaluate educational standards, encourage collaboration between parents and teachers, and promote community participation to further enhance the education system.
Reaffirming his commitment, Zahid Muhammad said that the Mardan Education Department will continue its efforts to implement reforms, ensure transparency and accountability, and improve educational standards in line with the provincial government’s education policy.
He expressed hope that, with the cooperation of parents, teachers, students, elected public representatives, civil society, and all segments of society, the mission of promoting education, increasing literacy, and equipping the younger generation with quality education in Mardan will continue to move forward successfully.
