KHYBER: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Khyber has issued the schedule of by-election of Local Bodies (LB) for categories left vacant in Neighborhood Councils (NC) and Village Councils (VC) in the district. According to the ECP, candidates can submit their nomination papers from July 17 till July 19, 2023 and the polling will be held on August 27 of 2023. According to the Election Commission, nominations can be submitted for the seats from July 17 to July 19 and nomination papers will be scrutinized from July 21 to July 24. Candidates will be able to withdraw nomination papers on August 03.Election signs will be allotted on August 04 besides candidates list will be issued on the same day and polling will be held on August 27, 2023. As per notification District Election Commissioner(DEC) Shahid Ali has been appointed as District Returning Officer(DRO), Khyber while election in NCs and VCs Temoor Afridi,Riazul Haq, Daud Afridi and Asif Ali Shah were assigned duties of Assistant Returning Officers((AROs). Keeping in view code of conduct for the election, posting and transfer of the government employees will be banned in addition with participation of Prime Minister, Deputy Speaker, Parliamentarians, Federal and Provincial Ministers in the election campaign and announcement of development in the consistencies where the election is carried out will be restricted,ECP stated.
When the DEC Shahid Ali was asked that on how many seats election will be conducted in Khyber, he was reluctant to replay.
