Provincial General Secretary of the central organization Tajiran and the President of the Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zahir Shah termed the Tajer Dost scheme as a scheme against traders and said that through this scheme, the FBR does not want to trap the traders in an unfair tax system. There is an attempt to cheat in the name of paying tax of twelve hundred rupees annually.
We will not allow a noose to be put around the neck of the businessmen, we will take all possible measures for the rights of the businessmen, consultation with the stakeholders is necessary to increase the tax net, he expressed these views while talking to the media representatives.
He said that he had expressed reservations about the Trader Friend Scheme even a month ago and informed the other concerned authorities including Chairman FBR about these reservations.
He said that we understand that the tax net should be increased but the blood of the existing tax payers should not be squeezed, bureaucracy always misleads the governments, fake and incorrect data is brought out which does not increase the national income. However, fraud and corruption will definitely increase.
This is a business-killing scheme. We reject this scheme based on fraud, dishonesty and bias. Though through this FBR want to trap businessmen in an unfair tax system. This is an attempt to cheat the traders in the name of paying tax of twelve hundred rupees annually.
If a trader has a high income, then that trader is ready to pay more tax, we want tax to be levied on income, if the system is not established and under this scheme FBR comes to the markets and starts actions against the traders, we know how to protect our traders.
He said that consultation with the stakeholders is necessary to increase the tax net, if the government does not take the businessmen into confidence then there will be no increase in revenue within the existing structure of FBR, we will not allow a noose to be put around the neck of the businessmen Industries, factories are closing down and capitalists are shifting their capital abroad, he said that the government should reduce electricity prices in the budget, revise contracts with IPPs, end load shedding, Sui gas tariff should be made fair, Pak-Iran gas pipeline project should be completed, it will provide cheap gas, border trade with neighboring countries should be started.
