KHYBER: Engineer and a private accountant (monshi) were kidnapped at gunpoint in Peer Mela area of Tirah Valley district Khyber on Wednesday night. Security forces and locals said that last night unknown armed persons entered the hujra(male guest house),abducted engineer Amir Khattak and Azmat Afridi and shifted them to an undisclosed destination. Station House Officer (SHO)Tirah police station Muslim Khan Afridi while confirming the incident said that the kidnapped engineer and his colleague were residing in a private property when they were kidnapped. He went on that the area was mountainous and located at the border and could not avoid the threat of presence of militants however efforts had been initiated to trace the whereabouts of the abductees. The engineer Amir Khattak, resident of Karak and Azmat Afridi were assigned duty to construct a cricket ground in the area that was approved in 2016 and in 2021 a fifty million rupees fund was allocated for the sports project. It is to be mentioned here that due to militancy in Tirah Valley four forces operations have been conducted from 2014 to 2017 in the Valley to purge the militancy. Our Correspondent
