assembly session in stadium
PESHAWAR
Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs Engr Amir Muqam, here Tuesday strongly criticized the decision to hold the upcoming session of the provincial assembly at the Arbab Niaz Stadium, adding that cricket stadiums are meant for sports and not for legislative proceedings. In a statement here, Engr Amir Muqam said that a fully functional assembly building, equipped with all necessary facilities has already existed, making the decision to convene its session at a sports stadium was both incomprehensible and a joke.
Engr Amir Muqam termed the move was not only unserious and illogical but also a waste of the province’s valuable resources.
Referring to the sports venue, he remarked that residents of Peshawar knew about Arbab Niaz Stadium and he was also unaware of any sports facility named “Imran Khan Stadium.”
He further claimed that the decision to hold the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session at a stadium was merely a political stunt and an attempt to grabe peoples attention.
Criticizing the provincial government, he said it had been misleading the public for the past thirteen years merely on hallow slogans.
“The province is currently facing poor governance, law and order challenges, and economic difficulties, yet instead of providing relief to the people, the KP government is engaged in symbolic actions and political showmanship,” he added.
