Foreign funding case
PESHAWAR
Former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Shah Farman appeared before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team in Peshawar in the prohibited foreign funding case of its party.
A three-member committee of FIA, probing the prohibited funding case against PTI in the province, handed over a comprehensive questionnaire to Shah Farman.
The government had constituted a three-member team to probe the PTI’s foreign funding case following the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) report.
The FIA had also summoned former National Assembly (NA) speaker Asad Qaiser, PTI KP Finance Secretary Muhammad Imran and Finance Committee Member Muhammad Mohsin Daud in the same case today.
Sources disclosed that the PTI leaders would be questioned about Rs2.8 million worth transactions made through two private banks’ accounts.
However, Asad Qaiser did not appear before the FIA Peshawar team to record his statement in the prohibited foreign funding case.
Sources claimed the former speaker has written a letter to the FIA through his lawyer which stated that FIA has no lawful jurisdiction to investigate the foreign funding case.
The former speaker has also made a request in the letter to the FIA investigation team to withdraw the notice served to him in the foreign funding case.
