RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Islamabad Tax Bar Association (RITBA) on Thursday lauded the government for extending the last date of filing returns to April 30th. It demanded to extend the date of closure of automatic audit as hundreds of thousands of taxpayers want to get their audit cases closed. The date of filing returns has been extended many times, therefore, the date for closure of audit should also be extended, said Zahid Shafiq, General Secretary RITBA and Sofia Akhtar, Joint Secretary RITBA. The said the decision to close audit cases under section 214-E of the Income Tax Ordinance has benefitted hundreds of thousands among over a million taxpayers and its extension will provide relief to many who could fail to make it in the deadline. Such a decision will not only help taxpayers but also raise sizable revenge and reduce the burden on the tax authorities, they added.DNA
