President Dr. Arif Alvi says facilitating the persons with disabilities is our social responsibility to bring them to the national mainstream.
He was addressing an event organized at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Friday to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The President said the government has taken special initiatives for persons with disabilities in view of the emerging needs of time.
Referring to the monthly financial assistance being given to disabled persons under the Ehsaas program, the President stressed the need for assessment of different kinds of disabilities and a proper record of these persons to accommodate them in an effective way.
He said from home to educational institutes and then in the job markets, we need to create an enabling environment for persons with disabilities instead of degrading them.
Earlier, in her address, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari said the government has set legal frameworks for ensuring the protection of rights of disabled persons.
She said an app and a one window operation have been started to facilitate the parents of disabled children to seek guidance for their treatment and education.
She said a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Ministry of Human Rights and Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training for imparting ensuring inclusive and skill based education for children with disabilities.
On the occasion, special children from different educational institutions presented beautiful performances and exhibited their talent.
