Faiq calls for sustainable water conservation steps to secure Pakistan’s future

Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah has said due to the effects of climate change, Pakistan was facing a severe water crisis and called for sustainable water conservation measures in order to secure the future of the country.
Water is the basic right of every citizen, survival of life depends on water. Being an agrarian country, we are highly dependent on water resources, says Shah while addressing a seminar in connection with World Water Day here on Thursday.
Representatives of non-governmental organizations, relevant stakeholders, political leaders, social activists, whilst-blowers, heads/activists of water awareness movement, male and female students from various educational institutions and others participated in the seminar, which was organized by the party youth wing here at the local hotel.
The party chief said the World Water Day would inspire all to contribute to ecological balance by conserving water resources.
He added that the underground water resource was an important natural heritage and helps make the ecosystem sustainable and lessens the impacts of climate change.
Faiq underscored that there was a need to use water in a disciplined manner. He urged people to take the pledge to save every drop of water.
Furthermore, he appealed to all to encourage the tasks of recharge of underground water through the use of new technology including ‘check dam’ by launching a nationwide campaign to plant saplings of different flowers and plants that help recharge the underground water.
“Together, let’s further water conservation and contribute to a sustainable planet.
Every drop saved helps our people and enhances our progress.”
The ATP chairman lauded all those individuals and organisations who are working towards saving water.
“It is a national duty of all of us to use water carefully and conserve water resources. International Water Day is a reminder for us,” Shah added.
Later, the ATP also arranged a walk to create awareness among the general masses for conservation of clean drinking water and to prevent water scarcity situations for coming generations.
