Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah has demanded to declare floods affected districts as calamity hit areas and announce a special compensation package for affectees in order to financial support and reduce burden of their losses.
Shah while chairing a meeting here at the party’s central secretariat on Monday observed agriculture and livestock are the worst affected sector in recent torrential rains and flash floods in the country.
He demanded ‘Koh-e-Suleiman’, Balochistan and other regions should be declared as calamity-hit areas.
Faiq expressed fear that a new storm of food deficiency and inflation would come while keeping in view the prevailing scenario.
The ATP chief noted the farming community is highly worrisome over payment of power bills and destruction in the agriculture sector.
He called for an imposition of emergency in the agriculture sector.
He went on to say that every national and important issue has always fallen prey to dirty politics.
The party leader criticized the Sindh government for leaving flood affectees on mercy of rains.
The whole nation which had aided affectees in the past natural calamities, so this national and human passion has been snatched by politicians, Shah remarked.
The ATP chairman said the agriculture, education and health sector has been ruined for the sake of gaining power.
He asked the politicians and rulers to get ready for strict public accountability and assessment.
Karachi- the megacity of the country and city of lights, has been changed into ruins, the ATP chief noted.
He added people can raise up on a ‘self-help’ basis and they have become victims of the rulers’ cruel system.
