Faiq flays govt for yet another hike in fuel prices

Muhammad Faiq Shah, founder and chairman of the Amun Taraqqi Party voiced concern yet another increase in fuel prices, which will bring a new wave of inflation that would directly affect poor segments miserably.
He also criticized the outgoing caretaker government for a 400 per cent increase in medicine prices, saying that the right to live has been snatched from people.
Shah while chairing a meeting of the party’ central executive committee on Saturday slammed the interim government for adopting a policy of erasing the poor instead of poverty.
He said no one is paying heed to the miseries of poor people as price-hike broken their backbone. The meeting was attended by the ATP central information secretary Awais Khan, Ishtiaq Elahi, and others.
Faiq noted that the lust of power is yet not over, and those who failed to deliver despite remaining in power for decades have come again in power.
He said dynastic politics has brought destruction everywhere in the country.
The ATP chief noted profiteers have become active, and started squeezing poor people with artificial prices in absence of any check by authorities concerned.
He demanded effective price-control mechanisms to provide relief to people in the holy month of Ramazan.
Shah said financial statistics recorded negative growth as per assessment of international financial institutions.
Instead of doing politics on the IMF, he asked for a positive attitude to be adopted to put the national economy in the right direction.
He said the external world has kept mum and shown irrelevance by watching drama that is being staged in Pakistan.
While condemning commotion and verbal slugfest in the inaugural session of new parliament and provincial assemblies, the party chief asked the elected representatives to ensure due rights to people.
He said politicians and rulers didn’t learn the lesson from the present and past.
Shah demanded the incoming government should fulfill duties of stability and invited all political forces and stakeholders to work under a single platform for economic prosperity and stability.
