Fake army officer held in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Police on Tuesday arrested a person who posed as a Major in the Army and allegedly robbed an Afghan citizen at gunpoint in Dabgari Garden area in Peshawar. According to SHO Police Station Shahqabool, Qazi Nisar, told reporters that an Afghan citizen Gardis Khan registered an FIR at the police station about the incident. Mr Khan travelled Peshawar from Afghanistan for treatment when he was allegedly robbed by a person posing as an Army officer. Following the incident, formed a team and started surveillance of the area where the citizen was robbed. The team under the supervision of DSP city Gohar Khan arrested the accused. The accused has been identified as Abdul Khalil, resident of Peshawar. Police have also recovered Rs77, 000 and a weapon from his possession. Police claimed that the arrested person was involved in several cases of the same nature in different areas. During the initial investigation, police said, the accused was the member of an organized gang of robbers. A case was registered and investigation for further arrest has been launched.
