Contempt of EC case
ISLAMABAD
Fawad Chaudhry has personally regretted to Election Commission (EC) in contempt of EC case. The contempt of EC case against formal federal minister Fawad Chaudhry came up for hearing before a 5-member bench of EC presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja here Thursday. Fawad Chaudhry appeared in EC and said I can regret in my personal capacity. Please accept my apology and withdraw show cause notice. He further said party is an institution and he was spokesperson of party.
I don’t want to get into legal cases. I have respect for you. I had given the statement at that time due to party position.
CEC inquired if party chairman asks you to murder will you murder.
Fawad Chaudhry replied he would not do so.
Sikandar Sultan Raja said will you accept if party chairman says something wrong. What your party has not said with reference to me and EC. Things were said about my wife. Threats were hurled against my family. Later he deviated from it in media.
Fawad Chaudhry said please accept my regret and drop the case.
CEC remarked “ give written apology if you want to give.
Former federal minister said I have apologized verbally.
Sikandar Sultan Raja said apology is written. You should file apology in writing. EC will deliberate over it.
The CEC directed Fawad Chaudhry to file apology in writing.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till August 01.
