A Frontier Corps (FC) soldier was martyred when militants opened sniper fire at a security post in Charbagh border area of Landikotal in district Khyber, officials said on Friday. They said the incident took place at Charbagh Shinkandao post in the command area of 146 Wing of Frontier Corps, where militants linked with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) targeted the security personnel. As a result, FC Sepoy Aziz Chitrali sustained fatal injuries and embraced martyrdom on the spot.
Security forces launched a search operation in the surrounding areas soon after the incident.
It may be added here that it was a second terrorists attack carried out in district Khyber in one day. Earlier a suicide attack killed an other soldier in Tirah valley and injured 13 others.
