Federal cabinet has directed to hold interfaith harmony conference at national level in next week.
Cabinet met under the care taker Prime Minister (PM) Anwaar ul Haq Kakar.
The Ulema of international stature from different religions and school of thoughts will be invited in the conference.
On the recommendation of finance ministry, federal cabinet has fixed the diyat amount which is equal to 30630 grams silver as Rs 6757902.
The care taker PM while addressing the federal cabinet said extremism and religious hatred will not be allowed in the country. It is foremost obligation of the state to protect minorities in Pakistan.
He remarked that exemplary punishment will be awarded to those involved in Jaranwala incident.
He indicated that care taker government has come for short period under the constitution.
Our basic responsibility is to extend cooperation to election commission for fair and transparent election, he added.
Upper house of parliament that is Senate is functioning but there can be no legislation.
Our care taker government has come for short period under law and constitution, he observed. We have to do legal and constitutional works within the period whatever we have.
We cannot bring big changes in government system. National Assembly has been dissolved on completion of its constitutional term.
We will take action on violation of rules and regulations, he remarked.
We will decide about the agenda of next cabinet meeting on the basis of briefing. All ministers should get briefing from their respective ministries.
Interim federal cabinet fixes diyat amount at Rs6.7 million
The declaration of the Interim Federal Cabinet meeting chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar has been issued.
In the cabinet meeting, the caretaker PM stressed that extremism and religious tension would never be allowed in the country and protection of minorities in Pakistan was part of the prime duties of the state while assuring that punishment of those involved in the Jaranwala incident would be ensured.
According to the announcement, the cabinet directed to hold an inter-faith harmony conference at the national level next week in which various scholars have been invited scholars from different religions and schools of thought.
According to the declaration, the conference would be an important milestone for the promotion of inter-religious harmony in Pakistan. The statement said that the cabinet fixed the amount of diyat for 2023-24 at Rs6.7 million on the recommendation of the ministry of finance.
