Peshawar(Online): Chairman QaumiWatan Party Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that federal government to convene the much-delayed meeting of National Finance Commission for timely issuance of the NFC award in order to share revenue among the provinces and the Centre.
He said this while addressing a massive gathering during a joining ceremony in which Abdul Salam Khan, ex Nazim, announced joining Qaumi Watan Party. The event was held in Village Ghari Kapoora of District Mardan.
Sherpao said that the National Finance Commission is a constitutional body constituted under Article 160 of the Constitution, consisting of representatives of the four provinces and the federal government.
The commission is tasked with the responsibility of coming up with a five-year agreement on how to distribute revenues from the federal divisible pool of taxes. But the PML-N government is reluctant to finalise the NFC award due to which development in KP is hampered.
He said that that FATA should be merged into KP without any delay in order to bring an end to the deprivations of Pakhtoons in the tribal belt. He stated the tribal Pakhtoons have rendered numerous sacrifices for the country and yet they were living under a black law which has retarded their development.
He said that the CPEC is a major game changer which will transform the entire region and steps should be taken for its security and timely completion. , but federal government should ensure that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa gets is due share in the CPEC projects as currently, the disfranchisement of Pakhtoons is causing consternation among people of the province.
Aftab Sherpao also demanded that diplomatic channels should be used to establish friendly relations with neighboring Afghanistan in order to avoid isolation in the region.
