ISLAMABAD
Under the directives of health minister Mustafa Kamal , order has been issued to start fire safety audit in all government hospitals under federation forthwith. According to spokesperson of health ministry a circular has been issued in this regard.
Decision has been taken to conduct comprehensive safety audit by competent and expert safety company. Review will be made of fire alarm, fire fighting equipment, emergency exit and the passages for exit in emergency during the audit.
Electricity and other possible fire hazards will also be scrutinized in the hospitals.
Arrangements for emergency response and preparations of hospital staff to meet any emergency situation will also be reviewed.
Ministry of health has directed that such flaws which come to open during fire safety audit and can endanger life and property immediately should be removed on priority basis. Islamabad Health Care Regulatory Authority has been directed to launch fire safety audit in government and private health centers.
A comprehensive report regarding audit compliance will be presented to health ministry.
All health related institutions will be identified in the report where fire safety audit has been started.
As per sources orders for fire safety audit have been issued to PIMS, Polyclinic, FG Hospital, Sheikh Zaid Hospital Lahore and all other respective institutions.
Orders have been issued to Chief Executive Officer Islamabad, Health care regulatory authority. District health officer Islamabad, Director Nursing and Director BHSP Karachi and other institutions for taking necessary measures.
Details of such institutions will also be included wherein the process of audit is pending.
