In a landmark event heralding a new era of convenience and accessibility for the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Mr. Jawad Sohrab Malik, inaugurated AJK’s first ever Protectorate of Emigrants Offices in Bagh and Rawalakot.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to facilitate the citizens of AJK reflecting the Ministry of OP&HRD’s commitment to decent public service delivery.
During the opening ceremony, the SAPM addressed the general public, sharing his reflections on the lack of such essential services in the region until now. “While traveling to Kashmir, it deeply saddened me to think about the absence of a protectorate office for the people of Kashmir.
The residents of Bagh and Rawalakot, in particular, faced hardships, having to travel long hours and spend considerable sums to access these services in Rawalpindi.
It is a historic day as we not only open one, but two protectorate offices here—one in Bagh and one in Rawalakot—significantly benefiting the people of Kashmir,” stated Mr. Malik.
The newly inaugurated offices in Bagh and Rawalakot will serve as beacons of support for legal labor migration, streamlining processes and providing essential services close to home.
This initiative is poised to reduce the financial and logistical burdens previously borne by the region’s inhabitants, facilitating easier access to pre-departure orientation, employment opportunities abroad, and community outreach programs.
The forthcoming inauguration of the Capital Protectorate office in Islamabad, along with the establishments in Abbottabad and Sukkur, underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing employment opportunities for Pakistanis both domestically and overseas.
Through these efforts, the honorable SAPM, Mr. Jawad Sohrab Malik, continues to demonstrate his unwavering commitment to reducing unemployment and supporting Pakistan’s economy through remittances from the overseas migrant workforce.
