Former federal minister Zartaj Gul has resorted to Islamabad High Court (IHC) for removal of her name from Exit Control List (ECL) in connection with performance of Hajj by her.
IHC while issuing notice to interior secretary has sought reply from him.
Later Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri while issuing written order about hearing of Zartaj Gul petition directed federal interior secretary to appoint some senior officer well versed in law for assisting court. The authorized officer should appear in the court on next hearing along with record. He should be aware about the facts of case.
It was said in the order that according to counsel the petitioner Zartaj Gul is facing law as several cases are registered against her for voicing protest.
The counsel told that Zartaj Gul is neither absconder or proclaimed offender in any case. She has obtained bail.
The counsel requested Zartaj Gul wants to go to Saudi Arabia for performance of Hajj. Therefore, petition be decided early.
The petitioner took the plea her name is placed in ECL, No fly list or PNIL. There is no legal reason or moral justification for application of travelling restrictions on her.
According to counsel application was given to interior secretary on March 13 for removal of name from Provisional National and Identification List (PNIL) but no reply was given.
