PESHAWAR: A condolence reference in connection with the 11th anniversary of the late Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Awan, the Founder Chairman of Gandhara Hindko Board Peshawar, held here on Saturday. The condolence reference was largely attended by writer, researcher, columnist, renowned educationist, author of dozens of books, medal of distinction and medal of excellence and paid rich tribute to late Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Awan for his meritorious service he rendered for the promotion of Gandhara Hindko Board and Hindko Language. General Secretary Gandhara Hindko Board Muhammad Zia-ud-Din presided over the condolence reference which was held in the Committee Room of Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Awan of Gandhara Hindko Academy with the participation of staff members of Gandhara Hindko Academy attended. The participants while paying homage to the services of the deceased offered Fateha and prayers for the reward of the deceased and said that Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Awan was a renowned writer and researcher not only in Pakistan but also in the world.
Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Awan, as the Founder Chairman of Gandhara Hindko Board, had rendered valuable services for the establishment of Hindko Academy. He said the Academy has been working for the promotion and development of all languages of Pakistan for the last 8 years.
It was the thought of Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Awan that the Hindko language and all languages of Pakistan are our languages and their development is our development. The Gandhara Hindko Academy has put this idea and desire into practice and books in all languages of Pakistan have been published in recognition of which the Pakistan Academy of Letters has also awarded an annual grant to the Gandhara Hindko Board Peshawar.
