Governor-House plays key role in cabinet’s reshuffling, sources
PESHAWAR
After consultation with Governor Shah Farman Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has reshuffled his cabinet yet again in what is obviously another attempt to boost his government’s performance in the province.
Changes in the cabinet either expelling someone or rotating the existing ones is the prerogative of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
The CM feels his cabinet members are not performing, but changes with such frequency in key portfolios and advisors in the third year of government have caused concern among his cabinet members.
The sources said that recent changes in the cabinet have left cabinet members in a state of panic.
A member of the KP cabinet told the Daily Lead Pakistan that bringing changes after every four months has become a common practice which left almost every member of the cabinet in a state of fear and anxiety.
We do not know when the government will show them the door and why he added.
It is worth mentioning that on Monday Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan reshuffled his cabinet and sacked social welfare minister Hisham Inamullah Khan and Special Assistant for Revenue, Haji Qalandar Lodhi.
Over the past three years, the provincial cabinet has been reshuffled more than six times.
The first reshuffle in Mahmood Khan Cabinet was placed when Atif Khan, Shahram Khan Tarakai and Shakeel Khan were ousted as they allegedly tried to form a power block against CM Mahmood Khan.
In February 2021, the Chief Minister, on the instructions of Imran Khan, de-notified Sultan Khan, the then Law Minister, from the Cabinet after the Senate Election Video Scandal came to light.
In April 2021, CM-KP expelled Energy Advisor Hamayat Khan, Information Technology Advisor Zia Bangash and Special Assistant Excise Ghazan Jamal. Before this, CM had also ousted Ajmal Wazir and Minister Liaqat Khattak, brother of former CM-KP Pervaz Khattak.
Sources privy to the recent development told the reporter that Governor Shah Farman has played a key role in bringing changes and rotating responsibilities in the cabinet.
The involvement of Shah Farman in the cabinet affairs has also been expressed by Hisham Inamullah Khan in his resignation letter to CM-KP.
