ISLAMABAD: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) disposed of 6,401 complaints during the April–June 2026 quarter, exceeding the 6,218 complaints received during the same period by 183 cases.
The figures show that the FTO resolved complaints registered during the quarter while also clearing a portion of previously pending cases. The overall complaint-disposal rate stood at approximately 103 per cent of the fresh complaints received.
According to the month-wise data, 2,176 complaints were received in April, while 1,925 were disposed of. In May, the FTO received 2,025 complaints and disposed of 1,836 cases.
The strongest monthly performance was recorded in June, when 2,640 complaints were disposed of against 2,017 received. The disposal of 623 more complaints than the monthly inflow offset the shortfall recorded during April and May and produced an overall positive result for the quarter.
Among the regional offices, FTO Regional Office Multan led the disposal performance, resolving 1,604 complaints against 1,240 received. The office disposed of 364 more cases than it received, indicating significant progress in clearing previously pending matters.
Regional Office Lahore received 1,023 complaints and disposed of 843, while Sialkot received 985 complaints and resolved 731. Faisalabad disposed of 725 complaints against 673 received, and Sargodha resolved 696 complaints against 587 received.
Karachi disposed of 579 complaints against 723 received, while FTO Headquarters Islamabad resolved 386 complaints against 385 received. Hyderabad also recorded disposal above fresh receipts, resolving 303 complaints against 175 received.
Federal Tax Ombudsman Zafar Hijazi appreciated FTO’s Multan office for showing good performance.
The quarterly figures reflect continued efforts by the Federal Tax Ombudsman to reduce pendency, provide timely relief to taxpayers and strengthen the tax grievance-redressal mechanism across the country.
Regular monitoring of monthly and regional performance is expected to help maintain disposal efficiency and identify offices requiring additional administrative or operational support.
