The Government of the Netherlands, in collaboration with the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), has approved funding for the rehabilitation and solarization of a government primary school in Badizai, a suburban area of the provincial capital.
The initiative, facilitated through the dedicated efforts of Chairman Badizai Haji Obaidullah Khan Khalil and the support of the Netherlands Government, aims to improve sanitation facilities and promote a safe, healthy learning environment for schoolchildren—particularly girls.
Following the project’s approval, a field visit was conducted by the Badizai Welfare Committee to assess on-ground conditions and engage the local community.
The visit was attended by senior SRSP official Sultan Mahmood, technical experts, and community leaders.
The primary objective of the visit was to consult the community for the third time as part of the planning process and to ensure transparency in the project’s financial management. During the visit, the first installment of funds was officially transferred to the school’s Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) account.
This disbursement will enable immediate commencement of the repair and construction of wash blocks and bathroom facilities.
Village elders and community members welcomed the initiative, praising the transparency of the process and expressing satisfaction with the project’s progress. Local leaders highlighted that the development will significantly enhance the educational environment and ensure better hygiene and safety for female students.
The Badizai Welfare Committee reiterated its full support for SRSP and expressed hope that similar development initiatives will continue to be introduced for the benefit of the village and its residents.
