Gilani hopeful of successful US–Iran talks

Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday expressed optimism that ongoing negotiations
between the United States and Iran would succeed, enhancing Pakistan’s global importance.
Speaking to the media at Khosa House after offering condolences on the death of former Punjab
governor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Gilani said Pakistan was playing a key role in promoting peace
in the region.
He termed the late Khosa a valuable national asset and recalled his long association with him.
Gilani also prayed for the elevation of the departed soul’s ranks.
He said Pakistan was making sincere efforts to help ease tensions between the US and Iran and
expressed hope that the dialogue process would yield positive results.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role, he said the country had been blessed with a significant position and it would continue to contribute to peace.
Gilani also appreciated the capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces, for effectively responding to recent challenges.
Earlier, he was received by Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa, Sardar Hissamuddin Khosa and Sardar Saifuddin Khosa upon arrival. He met the bereaved family and offered Fateha.
