Glaucoma Week inauguration at Hayatabad Medical Complex

The inauguration ceremony of Glaucoma Week was held at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), Peshawar, with Chairman Board of Governors (BOG), Professor Noor-ul-Iman, gracing the occasion as the chief guest.
The ceremony was attended by the senior leadership of the hospital, including Dean Professor Shahzad Akbar, Medical Director Professor Muhammad Mushtaq Khattak, and Hospital Director Dr. Gulzar. On the occasion, the speakers highlighted the significance of eye health and stressed the importance of early detection and timely management of glaucoma to prevent irreversible vision loss.
The event was organized by the Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology (PICO). Director PICO, Professor Sanaullah Jan, welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished participants.
Among other faculty members present were Chairperson Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. Yousaf Jamal Mehsud, along with PICO faculty members Dr. Siddiq Ullah, Dr. Mufarriq Shah, Dr. Junaid Faisal Wazir, and Dr. Parvez Akhtar.
During Glaucoma Week, free glaucoma screening will be conducted throughout the week at the hospital. In addition, various awareness activities will be organized to educate the public about glaucoma, its early symptoms, and preventive measures.
The public has been urged to undergo regular eye examinations to facilitate early diagnosis and effective management of glaucoma.
