Gold price rises to Rs220,600 a tola

ISLAMABAD: Gold price surged by Rs1,000 per tola on Wednesday following a surge in the international bullion prices. According to the data provided by Karachi Sarafa Association, the price for one tola of 24-karat gold increased to Rs220,600 from Rs219,600. Similarly, the price for 10 grams of 24-karat gold increased to Rs189,129 from Rs188,272, showing an increase of Rs857. Following suit, the price of 10 grams of 22-karat gold increased to Rs173,368 from, registering an uptick of Rs786. Earlier, gold prices in the country surged by Rs300 in the previous session and Rs3,000 (+1.38 percent) during the last week. On the other hand, as of 1200 hours GMT, gold futures in the international market were available at $2,068 per ounce, showing an increase of $0.50. Out of the $0.50 increase, +$1.85 was due to weakening of the US dollar and -$1.35 was due to predominant sellers, according to the Kitco Gold Index. TLTP
