ISLAMABAD: Surging gold prices in the local market took a breather on Monday, following a dip in international prices, and fell to Rs239,100. According to the All-Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), the price of one tola of 24-karat gold decreased to Rs239,100 from Rs239,800, showing a decrease of Rs700. Similarly, the gold price for 10 grams of 24-karat dipped to Rs204,990 from Rs205,590, depicting a decrease of Rs600. Similarly, the 22-karat gold rates for 10 grams went down to Rs187,907 from Rs188,457 with a decrease of Rs550. Market analysts attributed the dip in gold prices to the ongoing depreciation in the international markets. The exchange rate and international market prices play a direct and influential role in shaping the prices of precious metals like gold in Pakistan. The Pakistani rupee’s depreciation against the US dollar kept the gold price high in the country. TLTP
